Located on the fringe of the bohemian and arty village of Berry in country New South Wales, this garden straddles a landscape of open cultivated grassland (formerly pasture), and native forest. The house is located on disturbed land, keeping the forest at it’s flank and back.
Gardens respond to the changing site, with the more cultivated landscape concentrated around the house and outdoor living areas; and resilient planting of indigenous species in the forest edges. Paving, steps and edges reuse waste stone from excavation sites and stoneyards.
