Bronte garden is located on a steep site in a coastal location requiring a creative and robust approach to its design.

The front garden is structured by terraces that face the beach, containing the steep, sandy slope. The materiality of the house and the geology of the place are captured in the recycled brick and sandstone walls and steps, roughly built to incorporate existing elements. Hardy coastal species both native and exotic, shrubs, groundcovers and succulents form a patchwork of texture, colour in a base of soft grey-green foliage.

The entry and surrounds to the house transition to a cleaner palette of formed concrete walls, sandstone paving and river pebbles.
