Balfour Street Park is a small scale neighbourhood park built around the existing geometry of Balfour Street. Formed by a road closure between O’Connor and Wellington Streets, the new park is a transition from the fine grain, small scale suburb of Chippendale to the open broader scale Central Park development. It is finely crafted, introducing a handmade quality through the use of brick, and custom lighting. Materials reference the history and locality of the site.
Stormwater runoff is deflected, captured and filtered through a locally scaled stormwater swale.
