A significant endeavour: Landscape architecture in Australia’s capital
A recent article in Foreground highlights the connection between Constitution Avenue, Campbell Section 5 and City to the Lake projects in reshaping a significant part of Canberra’s urban centre.
Taronga Zoo’s Lemur Forest Adventure is featured on independent publisher Ellas List as one of the top five playgrounds to visit in Sydney.
Last month Constitution Avenue was awarded twice at the Australian Institute of Architects ACT awards!
A collaboration with JILA, NCA, Hill Thalis, SMEC and AECOM, the project took home the ACT’s highest architecture honour, the Canberra Medallion, and also received the Sir John Overall Award for Urban Design.
The completion of the Avenue last year marked a project that was over a decade in the making, and has realised Griffin’s vision with a project that ‘negotiates the macro and micro scale with consistency, clarity and vision’. Big congratulations to everyone involved and thank you AIA for the recognition!
Chelsea Street Playground was recognised on Thursday night at the AILA NSW Awards dinner.
Awarded the AILA NSW Landscape Architecture Award – Parks and Open Space 2016, this achievement reflects the rich collaborative environment of the City of Sydney, design specialists and the community that resulted in a unique, playful and high quality urban park upgrade.
We are proud to announce that our team has won the Mount Ainslie Summit Revitalisation Design Competition. The team, a collaboration between JILA, Sue Barnsley Design and Freeman Ryan Design, will now develop the winning design concept for the ACT Government. Congratulations to the whole team!
Our project at Thomas & Hay Sts started construction in January and is due for completion mid 2015. Stay tuned for progress information!
Work on site is just about to get underway on Campbel Section 5. JILA have been working hard for the past couple of years envisaging and designing the transformation of a vacant block in central Canberra into a new high quality urban precinct.
With a Constitution Avenue address, a new 3.4Ha of public domain, and a new local street network, we cant wait to get our hands dirty on site.
A new look for Campbell
Campbell awaits Transformation
The project is a collaboration between Cardno, JILA and Hill Thalis Architecture + Urban Projects
Thomas Street Chinatown, a project that we have been commissioned to work on for the City of Sydney, has just been exhibited to the community.
Feedback has been really positive, and we are looking forward to moving in to documentation in the coming months.
As part of the exhibition a video was produced featuring Jane, Philip and Lindy talking through the scheme. Watch video Here.
The project has been a collaboration between us at Jane Irwin Landscape Architecture, Hill Thalis Architecture + Urban Projects, Lindy Lee and Urban Art Projects.
